Westchester Collaborative Theater presents a reading of Lardo, A Romantic Comedy by Sydney Blake

Sunday, December 11, 2016  03:00pm  05:30pm

Ossining, NY – Sydney Blake of Croton, a popular TV sitcom writer (Major Dad, Empty Nest, Mama’s Family) and film and TV actor (Woody Allen’s Purple Rose of Cairo and Radio Days, TV’s Starsky and Hutch), is making her Westchester Collaborative Theater (WCT) playwriting debut with the hilarious and touching romantic comedy, Lardo that will have a reading on the stage of WCT on December 8 - 11. The reading will be directed by off Broadway and international actor, director and choreographer Nathan Flower, currently teaching at NYU Tisch School of the Arts. The production runs Thursday, Friday and Saturday, December 8, 9 and 10 at 8 pm through Sunday, December 11 at 3 pm at the Steamer Firehouse Gallery, 117 Main St., 2nd Floor, Ossining, NY.  The Sunday December 11th performance will be followed by a talk-back with the playwright, director and performers.  The rehearsed reading has been developed and dramaturged through WCT’s ongoing workshop process where member actors and writers bring new pieces to life.  There is limited seating available, advance purchase is strongly suggested.  Tickets are $15 general admission with discounts available for WCT/OAC members, seniors, students and groups of 5+.  Tickets are available for purchase online at www.wctheater.org.

Lardo takes place in the writers' room of a top-10 TV sitcom that stars an impossibly irritating lead actor who is, at turns, the man everyone loves to hate and the man everyone hates to love.  When the burnt out head writer is persuaded to hire an enchanting, talented, but inexperienced young female writer, the tension mounts. Will Lardo be cancelled? Will hopelessly wrong for each other couples be united? Will love lose out?

The ensemble of WCT actors performing includes: Jessica Carter, Thomas Coppola, Christine Fonsale, Lucas Kane, Jim Leeper and Joe Albert Lima.

Director Nathan Flower, prior to NYU, taught at Rutgers, the Actors Movement Studio, The Neighborhood Playhouse, Columbia University and the Maggie Flanigan Studio.  His work has been seen off-Broadway and at BAM, Judson Church, Classic Stage Company, the Culture Project plus the Shakespeare Festival in Neuss-Germany and the Festival at Syros-Greece. He recently toured with the Aquila Theatre Co.’s “Ancient Greeks/Modern Lives.”
