Topic: Surrealism - A Psychological and Visual Exploration

We are honored to have back Cherise Klebanov, Director of the Nu-Garde Gallery. Join us for the final lecture from our four part series of Art Talks focusing on contemporary art history from the new Whitney Museum, to the art of Rococo, Impressionism and the psychological visual experiences of Surrealism.

Cherise's interest and dedication to art and technology is a combination of genetics and pure passion. She was raised by a cultural arts director and a software designer. By the age of 20, she had completed a Master's Degree from The London School of Economics in International History and Economics. What piqued her curiosity and interest was not so much the history of politics and economics, but rather the literature, customs, and cultural elements of history. Cherise began teaching art history courses as an adjunct professor at Westchester Community College. The perpetual student at heart decided to go back to school and completed a second Master's Degree from Christies Education in New York in the History of Art and Art Business: Modern and Contemporary. Cherise further focused and specialized in video and new media art, leading her to write her thesis on a contemporary video artist, entitled Detached Dystopia: The (Re/De) Construction of Identity in Ryan Trecartin's Any Ever.
