Grave Marking for Civil War Soldier

Sunday, June 04, 2023  11:30am  12:30pm

Private Joseph Hatfield was just 17 years old when he died in service to our country at Harper’s Ferry, West Virginia. His remains were returned to his home in White Plains and he rests in the historic White Plains Presbyterian Church Cemetery where his headstone has laid broken and face down in the dirt for many, many years. DOLL commissioned its repair and the newly repaired headstone will be unveiled during the ceremony.

There will be a ritual civil war era graveside ceremony with color guard, wreath laying, re-enactors, music, Firing Detail, Taps and the newly refurbished grave will be marked with a civil war marker.

The public is encouraged to attend. Civil War era attire is welcomed.
