Film: Selma (PG-13, 2014, 128min). Ava DuVernay made history with “Selma” in 2014, becoming the first black woman to have her film nominated for “Best Picture” at the Oscars. Selma tells the story of civil-rights activists' march from Selma, Alabama, to Montgomery to secure voting rights for black Americans and focuses on the actions of Martin Luther King Jr.
