Originating in Japan, Sashiko is a needlework process that is both functional and decorative. It was first used to mend and strengthen pieces of clothing. Simple running stitches, often white cotton thread on navy fabric, create pleasing designs. Join Christiane to stitch a small square using the Seigaiha (wave) pattern. Some hand-sewing experience is helpful. Registration is limited and required. Those signed up will be notified when they can pick up their bag of program supplies from the Library. Everything needed will be in the kit. |
