Open to women nationwide, ages 20 - 40 years old, who have or have had breast, ovarian or gynecological cancer. Pre-registration is required. To register, call Support Connection, 914-962-6402 or 800-532-4290. Must register no later than 5 pm (NY time) on Wednesday, January 19. There is no age discrimination for cancer. Support Connection understands the unique challenges faced by those diagnosed at a young age. This open discussion will provide an opportunity to connect with other young women coping with similar issues. Share your experiences and hear from others at this same stage of life. See that you’re not alone. The discussion will be led by one of our Support Connection Peer Counselors who herself was diagnosed at a young age. The focus will be how being diagnosed at a young age can impact different areas of your life. Possible topics include but are not limited to: Career; Relationships; Family; Fertility issues; Being a caregiver; Parenting; Dealing with medically/surgically induced menopause. This is not an educational program; there will be no professionals speaking about the medical or psychosocial aspects of cancer. Support Connection’s Open Discussions are a chance to connect with others with similar concerns who understand what you’re going through, and a chance to help one another by sharing information, resources, and coping strategies. |
