On Saturday, December 3, jazz luminary Camille Thurman will make a rare local appearance at Westchester Collaborative Theater (WCT)’s Music in the Box Series. As a composer, multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, and unique interpreter of the jazz tradition, Camille Thurman is quickly becoming one of the standard bearers for the form, making a considerable and dynamic contribution to the legacy of jazz while paying tribute to its heroes. Her rich sax sound has been compared to Joe Henderson and Dexter Gordon, while her vocal approach—including an impressive scatting ability—has been classified alongside those of Ella Fitzgerald and Betty Carter.Fluid and powerful on the tenor saxophone and highly inventive as a vocalist, Thurman will perform at WCT’s black box performance space, 23 Water St. in Ossining. The Camille Thurman Duo will play sets starting at 7:30. General admission is $30 Cash bar and refreshments available.Purchase seats online at the ticketing website: https://wct-presents-camille-thurman.eventbrite.com |
