The Yorktown Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with the Town of Yorktown, will be hosting its Seventh Annual Yorktown Festival and Street Fair on Sunday, October 11, 2015 from 11am – 5pm in downtown Yorktown along Commerce Street and Veterans Road. Come join in the fun as Commerce Street and Veterans Road are filled with more than 250 vendors with something for everyone. Last year's event brought out a record breaking number of attendees who enjoyed a fabulous day of sunshine, exhibitors, food, music and fun; an estimated 20,000 people! New to the Festival this year is the “Y” Dog Challenge; fuel your competitive spirit and appetite by entering the 1st Annual Hot Dog Eating Contest (register online at www.yorktownfestival.com). For the motorcycle lovers, come check out the new model motorcycles on display brought by Hudson Valley Motorcycles. Yorktown Community Dog Park is coordinating some fun activities for our four legged friends (all dogs must be on a leash at all times) with K9 Nose Work, Teaching the Basics, Walking with Your Friend, Make Your Own Dog Toy & more. The super fun Dog Costume Contest & Parade is back again this year as well. The 2014 Blood Drive resulted in 54 units (pints) of blood obtained, so we will once again offer a Blood Drive via the American Red Cross at the Yorktown Community Cultural Center (YCCC) again this year, visit the festival website for details about donating blood. Our popular complimentary Senior Luncheon is scheduled from 11:30am-1:30pm at the YCCC, and it’s a treat to create a fun environment for our local seniors to gather and break bread together. Another major attraction is the live fire safety demonstrations from our local heroes at the Yorktown Fire House. Kids of all ages will enjoy the amazing rides, attractions, and fun food provided by Funtime Amusements such as the Jumbo Bounce Ride, Kidiepillar, Bumper Cars, Inflatable Slides, and much more. From open to close, The Yorktown Festival and Street Fair will provide continuous entertainment, starting with The Ice Queen, a story ballet by Dance for Joy, fun live music with Old Mill Singers, the Kurt & Helen Band (mix of American Country Rock and Classic Rock & Roll) and an afternoon full of fun open mic musical talents coordinated by Bob Hill from Mohansic Grill & Lounge’s Open Mic Night as well as shopping, food and more! Yorktown’s very own Gabrielle Sanson will be kicking off the festival with a rousing performance on the main stage. Be sure to save the date, as this event is sure to please everyone in your family, no matter how young or old.
