Westchester Collaborative Theater (WCT) Presents World Premiere of Joe Albert Lima’s A Short Walk Into Sunshine – A powerful play about destiny and last chances.
Ossining, NY – For four consecutive weekends beginning Friday, November 6th, and running through Saturday, November 28th, the Westchester Collaborative Theater (WCT) will present its fall mainstage production, the world premiere of A Short Walk Into Sunshine, a stirring and provocative full-length play written and directed by Joe Albert Lima that tackles themes of destiny, chance, race relations and long-seated sibling rivalries having paradoxical power to both destroy and heal.
A Short Walk Into Sunshine will be performed at the Steamer Co. Firehouse Theater, 117 Main St., 2nd Floor in Ossining, NY on Fridays November 6, 13, 20 and 27 and Saturdays, November 7, 14, 21 and 28 at 8pm; matinees will run Sundays, November 8, 15 and 22 at 3pm. Sunday matinees will be followed by a talkback session with the playwright/director and cast. There is a special performance with talkback on Thursday, November 19 at 8 pm. Advance purchase tickets are $20 through Brown Paper Tickets; all tickets are general admission. Discounts are available. Lima, an actor, playwright, and director and a member of WCT since its start in 2010, is the author of A Clean Shoot?, a one-act play that appeared in the Samuel French/Love Creek One Act Play Festival in 2003 and has been produced in several venues in New York.
The cast includes WCT members Steve Allen, Keith Bullock, Maiysha Jones and Tracey McAllister.
The Westchester Collaborative Theater is a multicultural, cooperative theater company located in Ossining, NY, dedicated to developing new work for the stage and bringing live theater to our community. We are local playwrights, actors, and directors who employ a Lab approach in which new stage works are nurtured through an iterative process of readings, critiques, and rewrites. When work is ready for production, it is produced for the public at various local venues.
