Civil War Soldier Experience |

Participation is by registration only at https://www.lasdonpark.org/shop/workshops/civil-war-soldier-experience-2/. Battery “B” First Rhode Island Light Artillery is returns to Lasdon Park to run the Civil War Soldier Experience. Each 2 hour session will consist of a number of fun filled, yet educational activities, demonstrations and ending with the firing a real civil war cannon. Children will witness living history while learning about the life of civil war soldiers and their families. NEW THIS YEAR! Children will create and take home their very own “thaumatrope” also known as a spinning wonder. A 19th century optical illusion toy that is an early form of animation. All materials will be included. Suggested for children ages 7 – 12. This program will be located out of doors, so children will need to come prepared to stay outside during the camp. Participants should bring water, snacks, bug spray, sunscreen, and wear comfortable clothing for outside activities. All children participating will receive a personalized certificate and Friends of Lasdon embroidered patch. SELECT ONE OF 4 SESSIONS: Sunday, June 25 At the end of each session, each child will receive a personalized certificate of participation, a take-home craft project, as well as an official Lasdon badge. |
