At 1 PM, Michael J. Kahn of the Yorktown Historical Society explores a little known battle of the Revolutionary War fought at today’s Yorktown Heights, Westchester County, NY. In the May 1781 battle, a Loyalist brigade defeated a Continental army regiment from Rhode Island which consisted mostly of African American soldiers. The presentation also discusses a planned monument to the Americans killed in the engagement. |
