Have you ever wanted to go hiking but didn’t know where to start? Learn the basics of hiking on a half-mile hike through our woods. You will learn how to safely ascend and descend on uneven terrain, how to implement the buddy system, how to prepare for a hike and the proper gear to bring with you. Free.

Participants should bring: Walking shoes with good treads or hiking boots (broken in).
Clothing that you don’t mind getting sweaty and dirty in. Two full bottles of water and some high protein snacks such as trail mix or power bars, sun hat, light raincoat, sunscreen and bug spray. Open to all ages, small children must be accompanied by an adult. Rain date is October 14. Participants will meet at the Welcome Center on the Conservatory Plaza. Max attendance 15.
