Taconic Opera continues to celebrate its 20th Anniversary season with another exciting event in April.
Back by popular demand, two matinees of a new production of Giuseppe Verdi’s Un Ballo in Maschera will be held on Saturday April 7, 2018, at 3:30 pm, and Sunday, April 8, 2018, at 2:00 pm at the Yorktown Stage, 1974 Commerce St., Yorktown Heights. It is truly Verdi at his finest. Nothing compares to being at a live production and experiencing up close the thrilling, fully professional cast and orchestra, without all the fuss, time and expense of traveling too far from home. This amazing masterpiece is both buoyant and tragic. It tells the story of a king secretly in love with his best friend’s wife. They enlist the help of a witch to deal with their feelings. The husband discovers the truth and decides to join a group planning on the king’s assassination. The music is arguably the best Verdi ever composed. It moves from humor to calamity without allowing us to catch a breath, and then sweeps us away in one of the most compelling love duets ever written. A wide range of ticket prices are available: $27-$59, $7 reduction for seniors, a family of four for $75 (all ages). To encourage youth attendance, student prices are only $15 regardless of seating selection.
