NOTE: This slam will be held at the GALLERIA in the Garage, which is across from KFC in the food court. Our exciting "1st
Wednesday" series continues with Open Mic, SLAM competition and guest poet Elizabeth Thomas! Elizabeth
Thomas is a published poet who designs and teaches writing programs at schools and organizations
throughout the U.S. An outstanding advocate of youth in the arts, she started UpWords Poetry, an
organization dedicated to programs for young writers and educators. She helps organize and coach Connetic
Word, the CT National Youth Poetry Slam team. She believes poetry is meant to be heard out loud and in
person. To take part in the open mic or slam, please register at 6:30 pm. Slammers should bring one original
poem of up to 3 minutes. Registration closes promptly at 7, and the program starts shortly thereafter. Cohosted
by local poet and slam-master Eric ZORK Alan. All are welcome! Questions? Contact program librarian
Ben Himmelfarb by phone (422-6980) or e-mail (). Poetry Slam is a
project of the White Plains Library Foundation.
