On Saturday, June 16, Westchester Collaborative Theater (WCT) will host an exclusive area appearance of the Vermont-based American roots band Low Lily, a two-time New England Music Awards nominee that has had two #1 songs on international folk radio and was voted #1 Most Wanted at the annual Falcon Ridge Folk Festival (NY), a popular event held at the foot of the Berkshires for close to 30 years. The concert at WCT will celebrate the release of Low Lily’s new album, 10,000 Days Like These, which Folk Radio UK has already dubbed “refreshing and uplifting… an absolute stunner”; Roots Music Report calls the band’s newest music “as smart with sense of pop phrasing and flair as it is roots-savvy.”Low Lily explores the branches of American folk music, creating a unique brand of acoustic music that is rooted in tradition yet contemporary. Trio members Liz Simmons (vocals, guitar), Flynn Cohen (vocals, guitar, mandolin) and Lissa Schneckenburger (vocals, fiddle), are masterful players, composers and arrangers with deep relationships to traditional music styles ranging from bluegrass to Irish, Scottish, New England and Old Time Appalachian. Drawing from these strong backgrounds, Low Lily creates sounds that are new and cutting edge.

About Low Lily
Born in San Francisco, Liz Simmons developed a unique vocal, guitar and songwriting style that draws from her childhood raised by itinerant folk musicians, and her studies in the folk and ballad traditions of Ireland, Scotland, England and America as well as contemporary folk music. She has toured with such luminaries as Livingston Taylor, three-time Grammy winner Tom Chapin, Sloan Wainwright and Lucy Wainwright Roche. Flynn Cohen, an Ohio native, holds a degree in composition from Dartington College in England, and an MA from Mills College, and has toured worldwide with numerous notable acts in traditional and contemporary acoustic music, including John Whelan, Cathie Ryan and Ruth Moody of the Wailin’ Jennys. Lissa grew up in Maine as an active member of the folk community, graduated from The New England Conservatory of Music, and has performed internationally as a solo artist, as well as with Solas and Childsplay, among others. Together as Low Lily, these young but well-seasoned musicians bring their considerable strengths, experience and history together to create an undeniably rich and versatile musical palette. The dynamic show of Low Lily’s traditional and original roots music combines with lush vocal harmonies and high energy instrumental numbers.  The group includes a few choice covers by the likes of Mark Knopfler and Gillian Welch in their set, creating a well-rounded listening experience for lovers of folk, new acoustic, string-band music, original music and more.
