WCT Revel on the River Fundraiser Features World-renowned Playwright John Pielmeier, Author of Broadway and Film Mega-hit Agnes of God

Saturday, September 22, 2018  06:00pm  10:00pm

On Saturday evening September 22 from 6 to 10 pm, Westchester Collaborative Theater (WCT)’s Revel on the River, the annual fall fundraiser at the Shattemuc Yacht Club, will feature world-renowned playwright/screenwriter/actor John Pielmeier, best-known as the author of Agnes of God, a triumphant hit and multiple award-winner of Broadway and film (starring Jane Fonda and Anne Bancroft), and the writer of numerous other plays of Broadway, London and other global stages. The festive event includes an open bar, DJ music and dancing, a gourmet taco bar, a live performance of an award-winning one-act play, a sneak peek at WCT’s new web series, and silent and live auctions of artwork, vacation destinations and wellness packages.

Tickets to the gala are available at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/3601122
or at wctheater.org. Attendees to the event will enjoy a beautiful Hudson River sunset at the Shattemuc Yacht Club, 46 Westerly Road in Ossining.

Pielmeier’s latest work, a stage adaptation of William Peter Blatty’s The Exorcist, was produced in London’s West end in 2017 to wide acclaim and will be followed by a Broadway production in 2018; Agnes of God will enjoy a Broadway revival in the near future. Pielmeier, also a novelist and poet, has won the Great American Play Contest, the Best Mystery Play, the Christopher Award and the Humanitas Award. A published speaker, he will offer the audience a rare opportunity to hear his insights on the state of theater today.

The entertainment will include a live performance of WCT member Pat O'Neill's The Erythrosine Ballad, which he wrote and directed, and which won best play, best male actor and best female actor at the Aery Festival in Garrison, NY – only once before in the 11 years since Aery began has a play received three awards. The performance will feature the original award-winning cast, both WCT members, Michelle Daneshvar and Lucas Kane.

Among the items to be raffled will be a pair of Saturday night orchestra seats to The Band’s Visit, this year’s Tony award-winner for best musical.

Says WCT Executive Director Alan Lutwin, “WCT has been providing quality theater, music and classes for our community over the past eight years. We ask for your support at this event so we can continue to flourish and contribute to the artistic revitalization of downtown Ossining.”
