Taconic Opera celebrate its 21^th season with another exciting event in October, bringing together two of the most popular one-act operas ever composed: Giacomo Puccini’s Gianna Schicchi and Pietro Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana. Two matinee performances will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2018, at 3:30 pm, and Sunday, October 21, 2018, at 2:00 pm at the Yorktown Stage, 1974 Commerce St., Yorktown Heights. Nothing compares to being at a live production and experiencing up close the thrilling, fully professional cast and orchestra, without all the fuss, time and expense of traveling too far from home. Supertitles above the stage make your enjoyment even greater.

Gianni Schicchi is an outrageous comedy in which Puccini delights in making us laugh at what greed will make people do in order to get anything in an inheritance. In contrast to poking so much fun at human behavior, Puccini offers up one of the most beautiful and universally recognized arias in opera history, O mio babbino caro. On the tragedy side of the theatrical spectrum, Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana delves into those classic opera themes of jealousy, betrayal and murder, but in the midst of it all we are treated to a glorious and beloved choral piece, the Easter Chorus.

A wide range of ticket prices are available: $32-$67, $7 reduction for seniors, a family of four for $85 (all ages).
