“A Jewish Childhood
in Egypt”
Morris Marcus will be discussing his phenomenal
childhood living in Egypt during the reign of King
Farouk! Farouk was enamored of the glamorous royal
lifestyle. Although he already had thousands of acres
of land, dozens of palaces and hundreds of cars, the
youthful king often traveled to Europe for grand
shopping sprees. Farouk was widely condemned
for his corrupt and ineffectual governance and was
expelled in 1953. Unfortunately, Morris and his family
were casualties of the time, and were themselves
expelled from Egypt in 1957. This was a traumatic time
for Morris and his family. Learn from Morris how he
survived this ordeal and was able to fl ourish in his new
country, the USA!
