On The Seventh Night of Hanukkah…. Temple Israel’s 2nd Annual
Harriman Hanukkah Hike & Havdalah
Saturday, December 8th 2 pm – 8 pm

Highlights:
· Mid-afternoon hike to mountain lean-to shelter & sunset vista
· Spirited Outdoor Havdalah & Hanukkah Candle Lighting
· Bring Picnic Dinner Campfire, S’mores and Singing! Great for kids* and adults ·
Illuminated Night Hike Return to Car
Fine Print:
· Hike is approximately 4 1/2 miles round trip at moderate pace ·
Terrain is mostly moderate, but there are some hills to climb and steeper sections with a few spots containing very light rock
scrambling similar to Temple Israel’s Bear Mt. hike (night hike down takes alternative trail)
· Some previous hiking experience suggested (leaders can answer any questions about terrain)
· Headlamp or flash light necessary for hike down and hiking poles or stick might be helpful
· Sturdy shoes or hiking boots needed
· Foot traction (i.e., Microspikes) may be necessary if any icy conditions on trial (hike leaders will advise in advance and have a limited supply to lend)
· Bring dinner and if you would like take your family menorah and candles
A candle making “pre-trip meeting” at Temple Israel for you and your family to create your own Hanukkah and Havdalah
candles, and go over details will be planned the week prior to the hike
