To celebrate Women's History Month, each week of this workshop series for grades 4-8 will explore a different field of STEM and learn about historic women who were innovators in their field despite the challenges of their time. March 24 - Magnificent Madame Curie. Discover what made the famous Nobel Scientist, Marie Curie one of the most important scientists in the world. Participants will become chemists and learn the difference of physical reactions vs chemical reactions by using the Scientific Method. Emphasis of the hands-on, messy science experiment is on trial and error and knowing there’s not always one answer to test a hypothesis and solve problems. Stay after the workshop to watch the Temple Grandin (PG, 110min) about the life of Temple Grandin, an autistic woman who overcame the limitations imposed on her by her condition to become a Ph.D. and expert in the field of animal husbandry.
