Navigating College Admissions during COVID-19

Monday, April 12, 2021  07:00pm  08:00pm

We are offering this Zoom presentation to help families understand how COVID-19 is changing the college admissions landscape and how it will affect Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors.

The college admissions process is undergoing significant changes as many schools have received a record number of applications for this current admissions cycle meaning that acceptance rates will be hitting record lows. The current test optional policy that most colleges have adopted and the greater virtual outreach have created this situation and many colleges have announced that they will continue to be test-optional for next year and possibly beyond.

We will discuss the holistic admissions review process and focus on the greater consideration admissions officers are giving to extracurricular activities and essays as they will have fewer data points to rely on due to the disruptions from COVID-19.

This program covers how admissions officers are handling the current situation and how students can position themselves to develop a compelling narrative to increase their chances for admission.

We will also discuss the importance of community service, how it can provide an opportunity for personal growth and an opportunity to showcase a student’s character. Admissions officers, especially due to the effects from the pandemic, are placing great emphasis on a student’s character and how the student has been able to give back and help others during these challenging times.

The presentation will be led by Ron Feuchs and Jackie Tepper, partners at Stand Out For College, LLC. (www.standoutforcollege.com)
