Taconic Opera, now in its 24th season, will be celebrating the return of fully-orchestrated and staged opera with performances of a Puccini favorite: Manon Lescaut! Before Madame Butterfly and La Bohème, Manon Lescaut put Puccini on the map. This was his first ambitious work that astounded audiences with its beauty and enough melodic material for ten operas! It is the story of a women torn between love and money. Two matinee performances will be held on Saturday, October 30, 2021, at 3:30 pm, and Sunday, October 31, 2021, at 2:00 pm at the Yorktown Stage, 1974 Commerce St., Yorktown Heights. Maestro Jun Nakabayashi is delighted to provide the downbeat to a live orchestra for the enjoyment of a live audience! Supertitles above the stage make your enjoyment even greater. The General Director of the company, Dan Montez, says, “We feel so grateful to be bringing professional, live opera back to the public as we emerge from such a difficult period. The arts are such a vital part of our communities, and we have taken every step as an organization to bring our singing back safely for performers and audience alike.” COVID Precautions - All performers and crew will be fully vaccinated. In accordance with current CDC and local recommendations, audience members are required to be vaccinated and masked, and social distancing will be assured in seating. A wide range of ticket prices are available ($69-$15). Reductions offered for advance sales, seniors, students and groups of 5 or more. Reductions can be taken together.
