Join us for a monthly series, to learn from experts in their fields,
and an opportunity to learn from one another.
Wednesday, January 21
11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.
“With What Remains: Memory,
Narrative, Story, History”
with Author, Alisse Waterston
Anthropologist and author Alisse Waterston describes the process of gathering information for her latest book, a story that is also a social history. “My Father’s Wars” is based on conversations, interviews, fieldnotes, photographs, letters, official documents and archives—materials that offer traces of the past.
Ms. Waterston is asking “Food for Thought” attendees to bring to the luncheon an “artifact” from home: a photograph, letter, document, or a book - an object that has meaning. These artifacts will prompt discussion on how one can move from story to larger history.
* $15 per person covers lecture, discussion and lunch
Let us know you’re coming by calling the Temple Office at (914) 235-1800
