"When we think of great harmonies in the contemporary roots music world, we think of bands like The Wailin' Jennys or Red Molly. We can now add the Boxcar Lilies to that list." --Sheryl Hunter, The Recorder (Greenfield, MA) The Boxcar Lilies will perform their signature mix of folk, country and bluegrass-tinged Americana music featuring innovative harmonies and top-notch songwriting. Accompanying themselves on guitar, claw hammer banjo, ukulele, electric bass and washboard, they have brought their warm sound and energetic stage presence to venues up and down the East Coast. The trio is based in western MA. The trio, Jenny Goodspeed, Stephanie Marshall and Katie Clarke, formed when these three singer-songwriters met through a musicians' cooperative and discovered a shared passion for three-part harmony. They joined forces and in 2011 released their debut CD, Heartwood. In 2013, the trio released its second studio album, Sugar Shack, which debuted on the Folk DJ Charts at #2 last May and was highlighted by both CMJ.com and eMusic.com in their roundup of exciting new releases. Founded by Pete Seeger, Walkabout Clearwater is a not-for-profit outreach organization dedicated to promoting environmental awareness and social action through song, education and other activities. Walkabout Clearwater is a chartered member-club of the Hudson River Sloop Clearwater, and all activities – including a people’s chorus and a coffeehouse – support the work of its parent organization. WFUV is a media partner. |
