Hudson Chorale to Host Westchester Debut of NYC-based Elite Cello Trio

Sunday, March 15, 2015  03:00pm  04:15pm

Hudson Chorale is offering music lovers an opportunity to experience the magic of the cello in an intimate performance setting.  On Sunday, March 15, 2015, starting at 3:00 pm, the chorus will hold its annual fundraiser at the centrally-located Chappaqua Library.  The program will feature NYC-based VC3, an exciting new ensemble composed of three cellos and dedicated to exploring the repertoire, old and new, for this uniquely sonorous combination.

For their Westchester debut, VC3 has selected an exciting combination of cello pieces ranging from an 18th century Bach sonata and 19th century canons by Brahms to 20th century works by the French composer Ferdinand de la Tombelle, a contemporary of Fauré, and Paul Desenne, whose compositions were influenced by Venezuelan folk songs.

The VC3 trio members, Elizabeth Anderson, Käthe Jarke and Robert La Rue, received the highest level of education and training from their earliest years.  All three were students at the Julliard School of Music as well as other renowned institutions, including the Eastman School of Music, the Curtis Institute of Music, and the New England Conservatory of Music.  All have been recipients of numerous competitive awards, and in addition to touring and performing, each is currently serving on the music faculty of a major arts institution.  Anderson is a winner of the prestigious Naumburg Award, an international cello competition, and La Rue is a first prize winner in the National Society of Arts and Letters Cello Competition.  As individual artists, they have all performed extensively in orchestras, chamber ensembles and string quartets.  Prior to forming the trio, Anderson and La Rue were both cellists with the New York City Opera orchestra.

In addition to the concert, attendees are invited to meet the artists and to enjoy wine and hors d’oeuvres after the musical presentation.  The event will take place at the Chappaqua Library Theatre, 195 South Greeley Avenue, Chappaqua, NY.  Since seating for the concert is limited, reservations in advance of the performance are recommended.  The suggested donation for attending the fundraiser is $50/person which is tax-deductible to the full extent of the law.  Tickets are available by phone at (914) 332-0133 or email at .  For additional information about the chorus, visit the chorus website: http://www.hudsonchorale.org.
