Born in the Bronx, Karen Williams began doing comedy as a single mom in Berkeley “because it was something I could do that didn’t cost anything.”  She taught stand-up comedy in the Dramatic Arts department of Cleveland State University, and is the president and CEO of HaHA Institute.  She’s been featured on HBO, the comedy documentary “We’re Funny That Way,” and on her comedy CD, “Human Beings: What a Concept.” An actress, writer, and lecturer, Williams is quick to offer observations and insights that are both astute and humorous.  She leads laugh-filled workshops to teach self-confidence and to encourage tolerance and respect.

Says Williams of her comedy career, “I feel really confident about where I am in my life, what I have to share, how funny I am, all that stuff. It makes performing delicious.

I am in my delicious stage.”
