How to Use a Computer Safely: Tips and Tricks

The Westchester PC Users Groups continues its Spotlight On the Digital World series with this presentation by Pierre Darmon on Sunday September 27th 2015, at 2:00 p.m. The talk which is free and open to the public will take place at the Greenburgh Library which is located at 300 Tarrytown Road, Elmsford, NY 10523 (914-721-8233) in the Library's multipurpose room (http://www.greenburghlibrary.org). No registration is required.

With the Internet as it is today, we all have to protect ourselves from the "elements." It has literally become a jungle out there with all kinds of threats. You wouldn't want to walk naked in the Amazon forest and expect not to be stung. So it would be wise to wear protective clothing on the Internet as well. Similarly, driving your car without insurance is not smart. That is why we have to take steps to safeguard our computer data.

We will talk about what you need to have and what you need to do to protect your computer and your data. This will be an interactive discussion with audience participation encouraged.

Dr. Pierre Darmon earned his Ph.D. from the University of Rochester. He has spent 30 years in the IT industry, 25 of which holding various management and non-management positions at IBM. He enjoys presenting on technology topics to all types of audiences, from novices to experts.
