The Symphony of Westchester All-Beethoven Concert

           Pianist Alon Goldstein will be the featured soloist when The Symphony of Westchester opens its 19th concert season at Iona College in New Rochelle on Sat., Nov. 7 at 8:00 p.m.

            A frequent performer with the Symphony, Goldstein will play Beethoven’s Piano Concerto no. 5, op.73, E-flat Major (The Emperor). The all-Beethoven program also includes the King Stephen Overture, op. 117 and Symphony no. 1, op. 21 in C Major.

            Goldstein’s recent seasons have included appearances with the London Philharmonic, the Vermont and Santa Barbara symphonies and at recitals and concerts in Beijing, Guatemala City, Kent (UK), Chicago, Los Angeles, Coral Gables, Seattle, St. Paul, Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and Paris, among others.

            The Symphony’s season continues on Sun., December 13 at 3:00 p.m., with an all-Baroque program featuring concertmaster Alex Abayev and violinist Ben Hellman. The orchestra’s annual Family Concert is scheduled for Sun., Feb. 7, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. Concluding the season on Sat., April 30, 2016 at 8:00 p.m. will be an all-Romantic program with violinist Tessa Lark.

            All concerts are at Iona’s Christopher J. Murphy Auditorium, 715 North Ave., New Rochelle. Ticket prices for the November, December and April concerts are $50 general admission, $35 seniors (65+) and $15 students. Prices for the February concert only are $15 general admission and $5 for all students.
