At 2 PM, Professor Alan Taylor of the University of Virginia explores themes raised in his Pulitzer-prize winning 2014 book, ““The Internal Enemy: Slavery and War in Virginia, 1772-1832.”  The Pulitzer committee’s citation calls the book “a meticulous and insightful account of why runaway slaves in the colonial era were drawn to the British side as potential liberators.”  Dr. Taylor’s other books include “The Civil War of 1812: American Citizens, British Subjects, Irish Rebels and Indians Allies” and “The Divided Ground: Indians, Settlers and the Northern Borderland of the American Revolution.”  Professor Taylor’s talk represents the 12^th annual
