The Canada Lee Project

Saturday, February 20, 2016  08:00am  05:00pm

Summary:

New York native Canada Lee, once called “the greatest Negro actor of his day” by The New York Times, has been virtually erased from history. The Canada Lee Project explores his legacy as both an actor and passionate civil rights activist through an on-stage reading based on Hudson Valley playwright, Mona Z. Smith’s original play about Lee as well as her critically acclaimed biography. Characters include many of Lee’s well-known contemporaries including Orson Welles, Langston Hughes, Talullah Bankhead and Ed Sullivan.

Join us for a pre-reading wine and cheese reception at 6:30pm and a post-show Q&A with the actors and playwright.

Tickets are $16 for adults and $10 for students and seniors. This price includes all taxes and fees. You can purchase tickets in-person at the Box Office, over the phone at 914-739-0039 ext.2, or through our website at http://paramounthudsonvalley.com/events/the-canada-lee-project/
