Ferry Sloops' 2016 Spring Lecture Series kicks-off on Wednesday, April 6, 2015 at 7:30pm, with "Fort Kitchawanc: A Prehistoric Native American Structure on Croton Point" presented by Scott Horecky. The Croton Point Park peninsula contains the remains of a very large Native American fortified enclosure, with traces of possible earthwork features and burial remains. Croton Point's unique glacial geology and estuarine environment proved an attractive location for prehistoric Native Americans for over 9,000 years ending soon after the arrival of Dutch colonists in the early 1600s. Join us in Ossining at Shattemuc Yacht Club, host for the Ferry Sloops "Music & Lecture" series. Admission is FREE and open to the public. Come with a dish to share at 6:30PM and enjoy a potluck dinner or arrive a little before 7:30PM for the presentation. |
