Purchase Chorus - A Saint, a Poet, and a Dreamer: Musical Musings on Three Great Women Monday, May 1, 7:30pm Purchase College, Music Building, Recital Hall Free and open to the public David J. Recca, Conductor Join us as we explore music inspired by history and literature’s three great women. Rarely heard works will include Samuel Barber’s setting of Emily Dickinson’s haunting “Let down the bars, O death,” Benjamin Britten’s other-worldly Hymn to St. Ceclia, and the ever-charming Three Choruses from Alice in Wonderland by mid-20th century American composer, Irving Fine. This concert will feature vocal and instrumental soloists selected from the Conservatory of Music. To all musicians, appear and inspire: |
