Local Fundraiser Connects Restaurants, Caterers, & Businesses To Community

 

For the 7th year in a row local restaurants and some of their most popular dishes are being prepared to be showcased at the 7th Annual Greenburgh Taste Off, a local fundraising event hosted by the Woodlands Falcons Nest Booster Club and Woodlands Middle and High School Parent Teacher Associations.  The event takes place the last Saturday every April.  This year it will take place Saturday, April 29, 2017 between noon and 3PM at the Woodlands High School Gymnasiums at 475 W. Hartsdale Avenue in Hartsdale.

 

The Greenburgh Taste Off is one of the community’s most highly anticipated events which brings local restaurants and caterers together to boast their favorite dishes. Attendees participate by tasting the dishes and voting on their favorite dish in specific food categories.  “The Greenburgh Taste Off strikes the balance of being an extremely successful community event and fundraiser,” said David Jackson, Greenburgh Taste Off coordinator.  “It brings alumni and the greater Greenburgh community together as well as gives local businesses a chance to engage with all in attendance, while raising funds to help our students.”

 

The Greenburgh Taste Off also provides attendees with the opportunity to participate in a silent auction and penny social as well as honors Greenburgh Central School District (GCSD) staff members for their service and commitment to the district.  This year’s honorees include: Constantine Andreadis, Woodlands High School Teacher, Sharon Carver, Early Childhood Program Teaching Assistant, Jackie Morrison, GCSD Accounts Payable, Rachel Pollack, Woodlands High School Teacher, Linda Rodriguez, Sacred Heart School Nurse, and Elaine Zuewsky, GCSD Employee Benefits.

Thirty-four (34) restaurants, caterers, and business have signed on as participants.  They include: ACME Markets, Adal Mini Market & Deli-American & Spanish Food, AFC Urgent Care, Affinity Health Care, Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza, Aramark, Bellesweets, Century 21 Schneider Realty, Chef EL-Amin Caterers, Culinary Tech Center-White Plains, Dara Pinkston-Scott-Mary Kay Cosmetics, David Learner Associates, Fairview Fire Department, Fidelis Care New York, Frank’s Food Court, G.O.O.D. for Girls, Inc., Greenburgh Police Department, Harlem Wizards vs. Greenburgh Falcons Game, Hartsdale Fire Department, Hero’s Sports Bar & Grill, Hurricane Grill & Wings, Jake’s Wayback Burgers, Leroy Jones-Prudential Financial Professional, McCants Mini Cheesecake, Nesto’s Pizza & Deli, Party Line Tent Rental, Pick & Roll Soul Restaurant and Lounge, Rita’s of Elmsford, Rudy’s Food, Sports & Entertainment, Tasty Tuesday’s @ TDYCC, The Ambitious Soul, Theodore D. Young Community Center, Trader Joe’s Grocery Store, and Union Baptist Church-White Plains, NY.

 

20% of the net proceeds will go towards student-athlete scholarships, 20% to the Woodlands Middle and High School PTSA’s, 10% to the Shirley Schwarz Memorial Fund at the Lois Bronz Children’s Center, and the balance to Falcons Nest Booster Club.

 

Major sponsors supporting the event include Party Line Tent Rental, Royal Coach Buses, Douglas Schwartz & Family, Theodore D. Young Community Center, and Mohawk Day Camp & Country Day School. Fan sponsors, penny social and silent auction items have been and continue to be donated by various businesses and individuals.
