Poetry Slam & Open Mic @ White Plains Public Library

Our exciting "1st Wednesday" series continues with Open Mic, SLAM competition and guest poet Charles Rafferty! NOTE: The slam has moved back to the WHITE PLAINS PUBLIC LIBRARY at 100 Martine Avenue in White Plains. Charles Rafferty has received grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Connecticut Commission on Culture & Tourism. His most recent full-length book of poetry is The Smoke of Horses (BOA Editions). His collection of short fiction, Saturday Night at Magellan's, was published by Fomite Press. Currently, he directs the MFA program at Albertus Magnus College and teaches at the Westport Writers' Workshop. To take part in the open mic or slam, please register at 6:30 pm. Slammers should bring one original poem of up to 3 minutes. Registration closes promptly at 7, and the program starts shortly thereafter. Co-hosted by local poet and slam-master Eric ZORK Alan.
