The Symphony of Westchester All-Beethoven Program

Pianist Alon Goldstein will open the Symphony of Westchester’s 21st concert season at Iona College on Sat., Nov. 4, 2017 with a performance of Beethoven’s Piano Concerto no. 1, op. 15, in C Major.

            The all-Beethoven program, at 8:00 p.m., also includes Egmont Overture no. 1 and Symphony no. 4, op. 60, in B major

            Goldstein, who last performed with the Symphony in 2015, maintains an extensive concert and recital schedule, appearing in Israel, South America, Spain and China, as well as in major U.S. cities. In the coming months he will release three new CDs on the Naxos label.

            The Symphony’s second concert this season, on Sun., Dec. 17 at 3:00 p.m., will feature concertmaster Alexander Abayev in an all-Baroque program that includes J.S. Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto no. 5 BWV 1050, in D Major and Antonio Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. A snow date for this concert has been set for Sat., Dec. 16 at 3:00 p.m.

            Continuing the season on Sun., Feb. 4, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. will be the Symphony’s annual Family Concert, featuring competition winners, student composers and family-friendly ticket prices. On Sat., May 5 at 8:00 p.m., the Symphony of Westchester concludes its season with an all-Romantic program featuring violinist Tessa Lark.

            All concerts are at Iona’s Christopher J. Murphy Auditorium, 715 North Ave., New Rochelle. Ticket prices are $50 general admission, $35 seniors (65+) and $15 students.
