A recognition of Black History Month At 1 PM, in recognition of Black History Month, Professor Deidre Cooper Owens of Queens College explores the remarkable story of Harriet Tubman, who led scores of enslaved African Americans from the South to freedom in the North and Canada, and served as an effective spy for the Union army in the Civil War. Dr. Owens’ publications include the forthcoming, "Medical Bondage: Race, Gender, and the Origins of American Gynecology”. |
